Project Life Flashback | Easter 2009

Monday, April 8, 2013

I'm going to let you in on a little secret...I've been digging into the Victor Family Archives a bit lately to add more Project Life-style layouts to my older albums. I've started a few of these flashback pages in addition to my current weekly pages and I LOVE them, I mean really, LOVE them. Most of the pages I'm working on have a coordinating scrapbook page from years ago with just a single photo (how I scrapbooked 75% of my layouts up until Project Life came along). I can't get enough of seeing multiple photos on my pages from a single event, even just a everyday photo shoot. And while I've made lots of multi-photo pages in the past too, there's must something magical about pulling stories together in this format. I won't be making any specific plans for what to "go back" and capture, but look for more flashbacks in the near future! I had too much fun with this one to stop now.

Ella's First Easter 2009: Our first Easter with a little one in the house. Our baby girl slept for much of the day (can't remember how the night went!) and was the perfect little subject for my photo shoot (in her boppy lounger on the kitchen island in our teeny tiny townhouse). I can hardly believe this is the same girl who is now 4 years old and spent this past Easter hunting for eggs in the backyard, devouring sugary sweets and thanking the Easter bunny up and down for her new princess Squinkies toys. That Easter bunny is pretty cool. And it's amazing to see where this holiday started for us.

Project Life 2013 | Week 3

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Moving right along to the 3rd week of January! As I mentioned in my last post, I'll be playing catch-up on sharing my weekly layouts and inserts over the next few weeks. Week 3 was almost completely occupied by my thesis preparations and most of us being under the weather in our house and worrying about the unforgiving flu bug invading the lives of most of our friends and loved ones. We "knock on wood" largely escaped the flu, but have had our fair share of upper respiratory infections this winter. However, we also enjoyed some unseasonably warm weather and took full advantage of it for a little photo shoot with the girls in the backyard.

What I'm loving this week: Midnight! With the recent digital release of the Midnight Core Kit, I knew I'd have to use in many of my layouts. It coordinates perfectly with just about everything and helps me keep my focus on the photos while still adding the perfect graphic touches. Liz Tamanaha is a graphic design genius.

Project Life 2013 | Week 2

Over the next few weeks I'll be playing Project Life catch-up and sharing my weekly pages and inserts. First up, we'll start at the beginning (well, almost) with the 2nd week of January. As you can might have guessed, I've been doing a lot of catching up...I'm getting there, but it's a slow and steady process for sure. I'll be sharing my approach in a future post. As I'm sure many of you know and can relate to, it's very easy to get behind, but I promise, it's also easy to get back on track, especially when you remember to jot down a few notes each week.

Things I'm loving: The week in review card. The Bebas Neue font to highlight key words directly on my photos. The "And I Quote" card to highlight the sweet and silly things my girls are saying. And the multi-photo 4x6 spots to include lots of photos (I take so many more photos than I know what to do with each week).

Project Life: Clementine Core Kit

Extras: 3x4 Calendar Cards by Splendid Fiins, Photo Collages No. 1 by Designs by Lili at The Lilypad and Writer's Blocks by Paislee Press at The Lilypad.

Project Life Mini Album: Honeymoon

Thursday, April 4, 2013

It's no secret that I've been bitten by the Project Life bug. In fact, I'm thinking I may need to change the title of this blog to "Girls Gone Paper" soon (4 digital weekly layouts ready for blogging later this week). But, as you'll see below, when it's this simple to put together an album with photos you have already sitting around waiting for their true home, you'll probably find yourself stopping by Amazon today to pick up a few of these beauties: The Project Life Mini Albums (click on Binders and Albums). Through tomorrow, they are 20% off.

As part of the Project Life Creative Team, I was very lucky to receive a mini album to showcase just how awesome these smaller nuggets of the Project Life family can be for scrapbooking the projects/events/etc. of our lives that need more space to tell the story than a single layout/spread, but less than a full album.

A few years ago, I printed out several dozen photos from our 2007 honeymoon to Riviera Maya and Walt Disney World to take with me to a Creating Keepsakes Convention. While it was a fun learning experience, as a digi-girl, I became overwhelmed with product choices and ideas and ultimately, those photos remained in an envelope in my office for years. Last night, it finally hit me, these photos were perfect for my Rain Mini Album. Armed with my Seafoam Core Kit and "soon-to-be in stores" 03 American Crafts Project Life Journaling Pens in Brown and Black (yay for HSN!), I camped out in front of the TV watching DVR recordings of Modern Family and set to work. Two hours later, using just the very basics of the Project Life system (plus one Studio Calico wood veneer airplane + AC Foam Thickers), a mini-album of a few favorite photos from our honeymoon was complete, journaling and all.

I hope you enjoy the album. If you've created a project using these mini-albums, I'd love to see it. Becky has been posting some awesome examples on her blog this week. Go be inspired!

Don't forget the sale ends tomorrow on the mini albums! Click here for all the information on where to purchase both in and outside the U.S.
